Shiver

Shiver is a cat who can never quite be still. There's always something to do and he wants to be the one to do it. Whether it's looking out for his elderly friends or sniffing out the remnants of the warrior Clans of the past, Shiver is almost always busy. His heart is big and open, although it can be hard to read with the playful exterior.

In the long term, Shiver aims to create a sanctuary for cats if they seek company. This has led to an almost workaholic state of mind for Shiver, in spite of his moons of experience. There's too much left before any semblance of a home can come together and he fears he may not accomplish it.

Shiver doesn't know where they came from. For as long as they can recall, they were living with a cat who claimed to have rescued them from death by exposure. The pressing question lingered in Shiver's mind for moons to come: why were they left behind? Why were they left in the open like so? Either way, the nature of their discovery was the very reason for their name: Shiver.

The first guardian Shiver recalls was a cat named Thunder. While Thunder was as the name implied, with a deep and cavernous voice, he was warm and fierce. Most importantly, though, was that Thunder had been around the unclaimed territories in the region and knew stories that stoked Shiver's imagination. For moons upon moons, Thunder and Shiver lived together. The elder of the two taught the younger while, following the encroaching threat of age to Thunder, the younger hunted for the elder.

Eventually, the time came to say goodbye. Shiver had grown into a tom that Thunder was proud of, but Thunder had also grown into an elderly cat with a lame leg. By the cold season's arrival many moons ago, greencough came for the elder. With tears and a heavy heart, Shiver did as he was told, looking for folk remedies that the Clans were rumored to employ. But none of it was enough, what with Shiver's lack of training. Shiver sat vigil and buried Thunder beneath a rock in the middle of a grassy field.

Since then, Shiver has spent time paying the kindness forward to other cats. Whether they need someone to hunt for them or just a friendly face, Shiver has been there. He's also traveled the lands, searching for purpose and a way to speak to the spirit cats of legend...
