Coyote [Complete]

Coyote is a cat who is as compassionate as he is sharp-tongued and intelligent. He's learnt the hard way that the world is an unkind place to those who need a little care and patience, and that no one can really help him except himself. Because of this he is an incredibly independent cat, he doesn't accept help with any sort of grace or poise, and he tends to approach strangers with an aloof caution, under the assumption that they will inevitably abandon him as well.

But he is a compassionate soul, a cat who wants desperately to help those who struggle as he does, or to find others who will accept him for all the extra time and patience he needs.

Coyote often uses gallows humor to cope with the harsh world around him, and his dry sense of humor can cause him to come off as cold or unfriendly. In reality, he's a cat desperate for companionship, but he fears letting anyone grow close to him, and so he tends to hold others at arm's length. He is endlessly kind though, and a loyal friend to those he trusts.

He is a remarkably clever and creative cat, using logic and wit to get himself out of problems where his lack of physical might may have otherwise put him at a steep disadvantage. He's a survivalist, good at coming up with unorthodox solutions to problems, making him a good asset despite his limitations.

Coyote has always lived with the deeply rooted assumption that he is 'too much' for most to deal with. When he was still just a kit, his mother left him alone at the doorstep of a twoleg family. He was too young to understand then why she did it, but when he grew older and it became more obvious he was not like most cats, he learned the hard way how most people see those who are different.

He found himself alone after that, cast out by those who were meant to protect him, and for a while he managed to convince himself that maybe it was just better that way. Coyote settled himself into a routine of stubborn independence, convinced himself that he needed no one but himself to survive. And for a while, he managed, but a social creature will always eventually feel the longing for companionship.

So he followed the stories and word of mouth that spoke of clans of cats who looked out for one another, in hopes that perhaps he'll find the family he never had.
