THE BEGINNING[break]
In the beginning, there were four clans that had stood the test of time: Forestclan, Lightclan, Darkclan and Waterclan. The four clans had been living in relative harmony for as long as anyone could remember. This is where our game began. [break][break]
THE EARTHQUAKE[break]
The four clans were rocked by a terrible earthquake that split the land apart and caused massive damage to the clan's camps and their respective territories. A Gathering was held at the next full moon and it was decided amongst the leaders to renegotiate their territories in respect to what was accessible to each clan after the debree, damage and cracks in the land.[break][break]
THE RISE OF FEARCLAN[break]
The fallout from the renegotiations of the clans was felt by the entirety of the forest, with many clan cats from all four clans enraged to have lost or exchanged territories. Loners and rogues, despite not being from the clans, began to see the vulnerabilities of the clans. Each clan handled their defiant warriors and apprentices differently and individually, but what resulted were several clan cats from all four being eventually exiled after physical altercations with their fellow clan-mates, their high ranks, and attempted coups. Several others decided to leave their clans to become rogues. These former clan-cats began to form relationships with the rogues and soon it was common knowledge outside of the clans that they should be the ones to take charge of the forest and take over the clans.[break][break]
FEARCLAN, ALIVE[break]
A former Forestclanner, Fangfoot, and a former Darkclanner, Spiritstorm, banded together and shed their suffixes. Alongside other rogues: Vincent, Blackpearl and Oakfoot, the five decided that it was time they made their own clan that did not abide by the Warrior's Code or much of any rules. Together, they named their clan Fearclan. It wasn't long before their numbers grew exponentially as they recruited, and often forced, other loners, kittypets and exiled clan cats to join their numbers. Some of their recruits included Scar, Drako, Angel, Fern, Rockfang, Warclaw, Scream and Dog. They often sought out clan cats during their patrols and hunts and killed them off, with a combined kill count of over 100 clan cats. During this time, Fearclan grew even more in number as members over time became mates and had kits of their own, raising them to join right in on their mission as soon as they were apprentice-aged. Tensions were high within the forest as the clans began to plan on how to end the threat and keep their clan cats alive.[break][break]
THE FALL OF FEARCLAN[break]
One of the final strikes was when Spirit and Fang together took the final life of the Waterclan leader, Icestar. When the newly-fledged Honeystar met the three other clans at the next Gathering, a plan was hatched to attack Fearclan. Little did the clans know that very same night, Fearclan had decided to launch their largest attack ever: attacking all of the clans at once. Shortly thereafter, a war ensued between the four main clans: Lightclan, Waterclan, Forestclan and Darkclan, against the rogue Fearclan. The battle at last came to a head when a Darkclanner by the name of Foxfur, took the life of Fang. With their main leader defeated on the battlefield, each group attacking the four main clans were called back and Fearclan was disbanded as their numbers fled the forest in fear of retribution. Some lingered such as Spirit and her daughter, Vincent and his two kits Blake and Inca. But soon enough, their continued presence in the forest was disturbing to the clan-cats and eventually Vincent was killed by a cat named Toadleap while Spirit's killer was unknown, her body found in her former clan's territory.[break][break]
TWOLEGS INVADE[break]
After the war with Fearclan, the cats of the clans finally received some time to mourn the loss of their loved ones without the fear that more loss was on the immediate horizon. However, twolegs were quickly building wooden nests just outside the forest. It began to pollute the streams that ran through Waterclan, and soon enough, a few moons later at the beginning of Greenleaf, twolegs had moved into those very same wooden nests. College students spending summer vacation in the woods, our twolegs became temporarily playable characters. They often liked to venture out into the forest to explore, hike and fish. Not only were they invading and damaging the clan's territories, but the twolegs quickly became invested in the numerous feral strays that seemed to colonize the forest. The large group of twolegs began to abduct many clan cats in the hopes of keeping them as pets. After three moons and large groups of missing cats, the clans decided to band together once more and launch a rescue party. A few cats were selected from each clan and together they raided the wooden nests, freeing as many of their companions and others as they could before fleeing back to the forest. This seemed to have upset the twolegs enough, because by the time Leaf-Fall had arrived, the twolegs abandoned their wooden nests entirely.[break][break]
CATS NEAR AND FAR[break]
As Leaf-Fall draws to a close, the leaders of Darkclan, Forestclan, Lightclan and Waterclan have dreams sent to them by Starclan warning them that Fearclan rogues lurking in the forest still pose a threat, and the only answer was to find and bring back a small group of cats that live far away. True to their dreams, small groups of rogues begin once more to attack the clans and thus, a group of thirteen cats are brought together to seek out this prophesized cats to help drive out the rogues once and for all. The group is led by Fearclan leader killer, Foxfur, while the rogue groups attacking the clans once more are led by Spirit's daughter, Plague, and Fang's daughter, Inca. Foxfur's group spend a little more than a moon and a half seeking out the prophesized cats to learn that they were a tribe named, "The Tribe from Which the Sky Falls." Foxfur explained to the Tribe what was happening back in their forest, and that their leaders had dreamt that the resolution was for the Tribe to return with them to the forest to help drive out the rogues once and for all. It took another moon and a half for the traveling cats to return back to their home, and by the time they had, many more lives had been taken by Inca and Plague. Though the Tribe was small, their numbers, unique skills and different fighting techniques were enough to finally rid the forest of the rogues as they fled out of the forest.[break][break]
SKYCLAN JOINS THE FOREST[break]
Once the Tribe had assisted the clans in getting rid of their rogues, they wanted payment for their help. The leaders of the four clans wanted only to help them on their way, but each received different dreams of the destruction of their clans should they be unwilling to help the Tribe settle into the forest as the fifth clan. After all of the losses the four clans had already suffered and willing to set aside their own personal opinions, they each decided to give up one bordering territory each in the hopes of finally returning to a time of peace and prosperity. And so, the Tribe immediately set up their patrols of their new borders and, with the blessing of Starclan, shortened their Tribe name of "The Tribe from Which the Sky Falls," to Skyclan.[break][break]
SKYCLAN LEAVES THE FOREST[break]
Several moons pass by in relative easiness, to the relief of the four original clans. However, through the months, Skyclan struggles to hold its own. Many of their original Tribe members have begun to die from mysterious illnesses, those that joined the clan once it settled into the forest have chosen to leave to become loners or return back to their original clans, their numbers dwindled quickly enough that their borders were often left unpatrolled and through the season of Leaf-Bare, they struggled to find food they knew how to catch. By the beginning of the next Newleaf, the clan's leader, Smokeystar, decided it best that all who remained returned back to their home and by Greenleaf, the territories they occupied were returned back to the clans they originally belonged to.[break][break]
TRIBE ROOTS[break]
Not all of the cats that had come from the Tribe that became Skyclanners, wanted to leave the forest when Smokeystar decided it was time they return. By their leader's grace, they were allowed to remain behind if they so chose, and were given blessings to join the other four clans of the forest so long as their leaders would allow them. At least half of the cats that had made up Skyclan opted to remain, having adapted better to the forest and way of clan life better than being apart of the Tribe. They dispersed when Skyclan returned home, with a few cats joining each of the clans, thus establishing new blood into their new respective clans.[break][break]
THE FIRE[break]
It seemed, at long last, once Skyclan cats had settled into their new clans, that there was harmony in the forest for the first time since the earthquake. Two years passed with minimal hardships that were out of the ordinary. For the first year after the return to only four clans in the forest, leaders and deputies alike had decided on a truce of peace, equally promising to do their share to help the other clans during times of strife for the following year so long as nothing was done to cause them harm. This promise, despite the strong disbelief clan members had that it would work or last, did indeed endure as each of the clans had been through devastating turmoil and the high ranking cats of the forest longed for a time of quiet. This peace continued even past the treaty time, continuing through a second year with minimal obstacles and hardly any discourse between the clans. It was a brief golden age in the forest.[break][break]
During the first moon of Leaf-Fall, a drought had begun and water began to dry up from the riverbeds. Waterclan feared the worst, but the other clans mostly remained untouched and unbothered. The affects began to only be felt by the whole forest as the last moon of the season rolled in: prey began to grow scarcer and faster, herbs were shriveling up and even the trees were brittle. The last moon brought with it extreme heat, causing whatever remaining resources to run off or die. The clans began to squabble amongst themselves for the first time in ages over who needed what the most, even the threat of war was thrown in as border skirmishes were at an all-time high. No cat knows the cause, but it was first felt in Forestclan: the hot lash of the flame. It started small; a tiny spark that Forestclanners quickly attempted to squash. The fire only grew and began to consume the clan's home, causing Hazelstar to evacuate and cats began to flee. They fled out into the rest of the forest, and some even to the other clans to give them notice. Shortly thereafter, the fire touched Darkclan, Lightclan, and finally Waterclan.[break][break]
OUR STORY BEGINS[break]
The cats of the clans fled for their lives. Some to the twoleg nests, some out into the world beyond the forest. Many lost their lives in the fire, but those who survived did not have the chance to venture back to bury their loved ones. Forced to move on, each cat had to restart their lives without any sense of familiarity or sense of what to do without their clanmates, their leader, their spirituality. Many did not feel Starclan's presence walk with them at all once they stepped foot out of their forest, and some felt their presence weaken to a whisper until there was only silence. Those who made it to our forest only know of them, and know that Starclan has forsaken them. But in entirely new world where they will meet many cats who've never even heard of a clan, the idea of Starclan has been left behind with their past selves. Our story begins six months after the fire that took over the Hazelstar Warriors forest.
